FAQ

  • How long does it take?
    • We endeavor to finish your blasting job as quickly as possible. In most cases we can have your parts blasted within 48 hours.
  • What do I need to do to prep my parts?
    • Your parts need to be disassembled and cleaned of grease and general dirt.  The final results will not be as good if parts are not cleaned.  Please contact us for more information if you have questions in this regard.
  • How large a piece can you blast?
    • We can blast items as large as 18″ X 18″ X 30″ and up to 30lbs.
  • What about glass or plastic oil windows?
    • We have experience with engine side covers with glass or plastic oil sight windows, we can use a mask to protect them during vapour blasting.
  • Is there any concern about vapour blasting parts before inspection?
    • For the aircraft industry there is no fear of creating false positives for cracks with dye glow inspection, or other NDT inspection methods.
  • Do I need to divide different materials into separate batches?
    • You don’t need to separate materials in to groups like with ceramic vibratory finishing or some chemical cleaners.
  • What can NOT be vapour blasted?
    • Vapour blasting does not work on wood, foam, and other soft materials or for anything that has a highly polished surface that requires the same surface finish.  It cannot be used with materials that would be damaged by water or high pressure.
    • Anything that has been powder coated cannot be vapour blasted.  The powder coat needs to be removed first.
    • Parts that have multiple layers of paint may need to be stripped first.
    • Large, cast iron parts with flaking rust should be dry blasted beforehand as vapour blasting is ideally a final surface restoration.
